National Breast Feeding Awareness Month

National Breast Feeding Awareness Month

This month in August, marks the annual and national Breast Feeding Awareness Month. There has been a lot of discussion and research in terms of when a mother should stop breast feeding. Majority of mothers in the US often stop after three months, however there are questions about whether this is the best option for the development and growth of the newborn babies. In average, 75% of women are choosing to nurse, while the 25% choose not to at all and instead, opted for bottle feeding.

The month aims to bring awareness to mothers about the benefits of breast feeding. It is a month that helps patients as well as professionals working in the field to encourage women to breast feed for at least the first 12 months of the baby's life.
